Giving Back to Houston, One Thanksgiving Meal at a Time

TJS investigator reviewing paperwork with a business owner

More than 100 turkeys, barbecue meals, and holiday desserts helped bring neighbors together through our annual Houston turkey drive.

Houston has been part of our story since the beginning. It is where our business took root, where clients first placed their trust in us, and where our commitment to helping people continues to grow.

Our annual Houston turkey drive is one way we put that commitment into practice.

At our most recent event, we helped provide more than 100 turkeys to Houston families, along with barbecue meals, pies, cakes, and cupcakes. It was an opportunity to share food, spend time with our neighbors, and help make a holiday meal more manageable for families facing difficult circumstances.

For our team, the day was a reminder that serving a community takes many forms. Sometimes it means helping someone find answers. Sometimes it means showing up with a meal and a willingness to help.

A holiday tradition with a practical purpose

Thanksgiving can bring people together, but preparing a holiday meal can also place additional pressure on a household budget.

For a family managing an unexpected expense, a change in employment, or other financial challenges, the cost of groceries may require difficult choices. A holiday does not put those responsibilities on hold.

Our turkey drive offers practical support during that season. Providing a turkey helps with the meal families are planning at home. Barbecue meals and desserts add something they can enjoy and share.

We know one event cannot resolve every challenge a family faces. It can, however, ease an expense, create an opportunity to gather, and remind our neighbors that support is available within their community.

That is a meaningful reason to keep showing up.

More than 100 turkeys, and many reasons to be thankful

The number of turkeys distributed tells part of the story. The people who made the event possible tell the rest.

Food had to be gathered, meals prepared, contributions organized, and families welcomed. Every person who helped with those responsibilities contributed to what the day became.

Alongside the turkeys, barbecue meals, pies, cakes, and cupcakes helped make the event feel like a holiday gathering. Those contributions brought variety to the tables and reflected the care people put into supporting their neighbors.

We were grateful to see people give their time and resources to a shared purpose. We were equally grateful to the families who joined us and made the event part of their holiday season.

Why community service belongs in our work

People often contact an investigative firm during a difficult chapter in their lives. They may be worried about a loved one, navigating a family change, or trying to make an important decision without all the information they need.

That work requires listening, patience, and respect for circumstances we may not immediately see.

Those same qualities matter outside an investigation.

A family’s needs cannot always be understood from a brief conversation or a passing impression. People may be managing responsibilities and challenges privately. Our role at a community event is to offer help with warmth and respect.

The turkey drive gives our team another way to serve the people who make Houston home. It brings us together around an immediate need and gives us a chance to contribute beyond our day-to-day work.

Thank you to everyone who helped

An event like this depends on people willing to contribute.

To everyone who donated food, helped prepare meals, organized distribution, supported the event financially, or volunteered their time: thank you.

Your efforts helped turn an idea into food that families could take home and enjoy. Each contribution supported the work of the next person, from preparation through distribution.

We also thank everyone who helped spread the word and connect families with the event. Making support available matters, and helping people find it is part of that effort.

We appreciate the trust, participation, and generosity that made this year’s drive possible.

Continuing our commitment to Houston

Our goal is to build on this effort and reach more families through future turkey drives.

Growth takes preparation, resources, and dependable community partnerships. As we look toward the next event, we welcome conversations with individuals, businesses, and organizations interested in contributing food, volunteering, or helping with coordination.

We want this tradition to remain useful to the community it serves. That means paying attention to what worked, learning where we can improve, and preparing carefully for the next opportunity to help.

Houston has supported our work for more than a decade. We are thankful for the opportunity to give something back.
