The Situation: Establishing Reliable Information About a Subject

Our firm was assigned to investigate an individual whose employment and activities were relevant to a client's concerns.

The investigation involved a barbershop in Irving, Texas, and a residence associated with the subject.

Our investigators needed to determine whether the subject was actively employed at the identified business and document relevant activities through surveillance.

The case also developed an additional investigative lead when the subject discussed two vehicle accidents during a recorded conversation.

The underlying purpose of the client's inquiry was not fully described in the final report. Accordingly, we do not characterize this investigation as an insurance fraud case, personal injury lawsuit, or criminal investigation.

Our responsibility was to document the facts available through the assignment.

The Challenge: Confirming Employment and Documenting Activities

Verifying a person's employment can be more complicated than identifying a business associated with that individual.

An address, business listing, or previous employment reference may suggest a connection, but it does not necessarily establish that someone currently works at a particular location.

The client needed confirmation based on actual observations.

At the same time, our investigators were monitoring the subject's residence to document movements and activity.

This presented two distinct investigative objectives: verifying employment and gathering information through surveillance.

Our Approach: Workplace Verification and Residential Surveillance

Initial Surveillance in August 2026

Our investigators began surveillance in early August at a barbershop in Irving.

The subject was not initially observed at the business.

Surveillance subsequently continued at a residence associated with the subject.

During the assignment, our investigator observed the subject at the residence. The subject departed at one point, but visual contact was lost during the attempted mobile surveillance.

Our investigator checked locations the subject had previously frequented but was unable to relocate him.

The investigator returned to the residence, where the subject was later observed returning.

Additional surveillance periods produced limited activity.

Confirming the Subject's Employment

On August 4, our investigator visited the identified barbershop.

Rather than relying on an assumption that the subject worked there, the investigator obtained direct confirmation.

The subject personally provided the investigator with a haircut during an appointment lasting approximately 30 minutes.

This established that the subject was actively working at the business at the time of the visit.

For the investigation, this was a meaningful finding.

The employment information was no longer based solely on a reported association with the business. It had been independently verified through direct interaction.

A Second Appointment and Recorded Conversation

In October, our investigator arranged another haircut appointment at the barbershop.

On October 16, the investigator met with the subject and received a haircut.

During the appointment, a conversation between the investigator and the subject was recorded.

According to the final case report, the subject discussed being involved in two separate vehicle accidents.

The report states that the audio recording was still being reviewed and processed.

We therefore distinguish the reported subject matter of the conversation from any conclusions that might require a completed review of the recording.

The report does not establish the circumstances of either accident, responsibility for the collisions, or any related legal findings.

Residential Surveillance on October 17

Our investigator returned to the residence associated with the subject.

Two vehicles associated with the subject were observed at the property.

During the evening, a small white SUV arrived.

The subject briefly exited the residence and then returned inside.

Our investigator continued monitoring the location, but no additional significant movement was observed during the remainder of the assignment.

Surveillance concluded shortly before midnight.

Follow-Up Surveillance on October 18

The following day, our investigator returned to the residence.

The vehicles associated with the subject were initially present.

Later that afternoon, an unidentified female entered one of the vehicles without the subject being observed with her.

The vehicle subsequently departed the location.

Our investigator did not establish the woman's identity or the vehicle's destination.

The subject was not observed during the remaining surveillance period.

What We Found

Our investigation produced four principal findings.

1. The Subject's Employment Was Independently Verified

Our investigator confirmed that the subject was actively working at the identified Irving barbershop.

This was established through direct contact and a service appointment performed by the subject.

2. A Conversation About Two Vehicle Accidents Was Recorded

During a later appointment, the subject discussed involvement in two separate accidents.

The conversation was recorded, and the final report identified the audio as requiring further review and processing.

The recording was not described as establishing fault, liability, or the circumstances of either collision.

3. Residential Surveillance Documented Limited Activity

Our investigators observed the subject briefly leaving and reentering the residence during the October surveillance period.

Vehicle activity and the arrival of another vehicle were also documented.

4. An Unidentified Individual Used a Vehicle Associated With the Subject

During the final surveillance day, an unidentified female entered a vehicle associated with the subject.

The vehicle subsequently left the location.

Neither the individual's identity nor the destination of the vehicle was established.

The Outcome: Verified Employment and Documented Investigative Findings

The investigation successfully verified the subject's employment at the Irving barbershop.

Our investigators also documented activity at the subject's residence and recorded a conversation concerning two reported vehicle accidents.

The final report identified the recorded conversation as potentially relevant, subject to additional audio review.

Not every observation resolved a question. The identity of the woman observed entering the vehicle remained unknown, and the vehicle's destination was not established.

The documented findings provided the client with a factual record of what investigators observed and what remained unconfirmed.

Why This Investigation Mattered

This case illustrates why a professional investigation may require more than one investigative method.

Residential surveillance can document movements and visitors, but it may not independently confirm current employment.

Likewise, identifying a possible workplace does not prove that the subject is actively working there.

By arranging an appointment and receiving a haircut from the subject, our investigator obtained direct verification of employment.

The subsequent recorded conversation provided an additional source of information that could be evaluated after audio review.

The case demonstrates how direct observation, personal interaction, and surveillance can complement one another in developing an accurate investigative record.

Our Perspective: Confirming Facts Through Direct Observation

At TJS Private Investigations, we believe that investigative conclusions should be based on documented facts rather than assumptions.

This investigation presented a practical example.

Our team had information connecting the subject to a barbershop in Irving, but a reported connection alone was not enough to confirm current employment.

Our investigator visited the business and personally received a haircut from the subject.

That direct interaction established the employment finding.

During a later appointment, our investigator recorded a conversation in which the subject discussed two vehicle accidents. We recognized that the recording could contain relevant information, while also acknowledging that further audio review was necessary.

The residential surveillance produced additional observations, but it did not establish every detail about the individuals or vehicles involved.

Professional investigative work requires knowing the difference between what was observed, what was reported, and what remains unknown.

That commitment to accuracy is central to how we approach our investigations.
