Private Investigator Locates Subject at Houston Motel Through Surveillance and License Plate Recognition

Locate investigation Houston TX

TJS Private Investigations located a subject at a Houston motel using surveillance and license plate recognition research, documenting his movements and lodging connection.

Case Overview

  • Location: Houston, Texas

  • Investigation Type: Subject Location and Surveillance Investigation

  • Investigation Dates: October 18–20, 2026

  • Primary Objective: Establish the subject's whereabouts and document relevant activities

  • Investigative Methods: Physical surveillance, mobile surveillance, LPR research, and follow-up location verification

  • Key Finding: Subject located and followed to a Houston motel

  • Additional Finding: Repeated LPR sightings corroborated the vehicle's association with the motel

  • Outcome: Recurring motel location and associated room identified; permanent residence not conclusively established

The Situation: A Client Needed to Know Where the Subject Was Staying

Our firm was assigned to investigate the whereabouts and activities of a male subject in Houston.

The available information included a church the subject reportedly attended and identifying information associated with his vehicle.

The client needed more than an unverified address.

Our investigators needed to determine where the subject could actually be observed and whether his movements could establish a reliable connection to another location.

The assignment also involved determining whether the subject was observed interacting with an unidentified female.

Because the available report does not establish the underlying personal or legal circumstances, we have limited this case study to the documented investigative objectives and findings.

The Challenge: Establishing a Reliable Location

Locating an individual can require more than checking a single address.

A subject may attend a particular church, visit a business, or leave a vehicle at a location without necessarily living there.

For our investigator, the challenge was to distinguish between temporary visits and a recurring location associated with the subject.

The investigation also required maintaining observation as the subject traveled between locations.

Rather than assuming that a reported address or vehicle sighting established the subject's residence, our team sought corroborating evidence.

Our Approach: Surveillance and License Plate Recognition Research

October 18: Investigating the Reported Church Location

Our investigator began the assignment by checking a church property associated with the subject.

The location appeared to contain two separate churches.

Our investigator canvassed the parking areas but did not initially observe the subject's vehicle.

To evaluate another potential lead, our investigator reviewed available License Plate Recognition records associated with the vehicle.

The research identified a vehicle location elsewhere in Houston.

Our investigator checked that location before returning to the church to determine whether the subject might have arrived with someone else.

This decision proved important.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., our investigator observed the subject exiting the church and entering a gray Dodge Challenger.

The subject then departed, and our investigator began mobile surveillance.

Following the Subject Through Houston

After leaving the church, the subject traveled to a business on Scott Street in Houston.

Our investigator documented the arrival and departure.

The subject then traveled to a motel on Holmes Road, arriving at approximately 1:39 p.m.

This location became a central focus of the investigation.

Our investigator observed the subject briefly exiting a motel room and making occasional trips between the room and his vehicle.

These observations established a direct association between the subject and the motel property.

Surveillance continued until the lack of additional movement led to termination of the assignment that afternoon.

October 19: Follow-Up Motel Surveillance

Our investigator returned to the motel the following day.

The subject's vehicle was observed parked in the same location documented during the previous surveillance period.

Throughout the assignment, the vehicle remained stationary.

No additional movement involving the subject was documented.

Although this surveillance period did not produce new sightings of the subject, it provided another observation connecting his vehicle to the motel.

Using LPR Records to Corroborate the Location

Additional License Plate Recognition research identified repeated sightings of the subject's vehicle associated with the motel.

This information corroborated our investigator's direct observations.

The significance was not merely that the vehicle had appeared at the property once.

The available records supported a recurring connection between the vehicle and the motel.

Combined with the subject's observed arrival and use of a motel room, the LPR findings strengthened the location lead.

October 20: Identifying the Associated Room

On the final investigative date, our investigator conducted a follow-up spot check.

The check identified a specific room at the motel associated with the subject.

This finding provided a more precise location connection than the motel's street address alone.

However, the investigation did not establish whether the subject was a permanent resident of the property or how long he intended to remain there.

What We Found

Our investigation established five principal findings.

1. The Subject Was Successfully Located

On October 18, our investigator established direct visual contact with the subject at the reported church location.

This provided a confirmed starting point for mobile surveillance.

2. The Subject Was Followed to a Houston Motel

Our investigator documented the subject traveling from the church to another Houston business before arriving at a motel.

The subject was subsequently observed in connection with a room at the property.

3. LPR Research Supported a Recurring Connection

Repeated vehicle sightings associated with the motel corroborated the surveillance observations.

This helped distinguish the location from a single, isolated visit.

4. A Specific Motel Room Was Identified

A follow-up check established a particular motel room associated with the subject.

The report did not conclusively establish that the room was his permanent residence.

5. No Interactions With an Unidentified Female Were Documented

During the surveillance periods, our investigator did not observe an unidentified female accompanying the subject, entering or leaving the associated room, or interacting with him.

This finding applies only to the documented surveillance periods. It does not establish what occurred outside those observations.

The Outcome: A Verified Location Lead in Houston

The three-day investigation successfully located the subject and identified a Houston motel associated with his activities and apparent lodging.

Our investigator established visual contact, followed the subject to the property, documented his connection to a motel room, and corroborated the location through repeated LPR vehicle sightings.

A subsequent spot check identified the room associated with the subject.

These findings provided the client with a specific, independently documented location for further consideration.

The investigation did not conclusively establish the subject's permanent residence or document interactions with another woman.

Surveillance concluded after the three scheduled investigative dates.

Why This Investigation Mattered

An individual's whereabouts cannot always be established through a single address search.

A vehicle may appear at multiple locations, and a reported destination may not reveal where the person is actually staying.

In this case, our investigator combined several sources of information.

The church location provided an opportunity to establish visual contact.

Mobile surveillance documented the subject's movements.

Direct observations connected the subject to the motel.

License Plate Recognition research supported a recurring association between his vehicle and that property.

The follow-up check identified a specific room.

Together, these findings gave the client a clearer picture of the subject's location than any one observation could have provided.

Our Perspective: Corroborating Leads Produces Stronger Investigative Findings

At TJS Private Investigations, we understand that locating a person requires more than identifying a possible address.

An effective locate investigation should distinguish between reported information, vehicle-related leads, direct sightings, and verified associations.

In this Houston investigation, our investigator initially checked a reported church location without locating the subject's vehicle.

Rather than treating that result as the end of the lead, we evaluated available LPR information and continued surveillance.

When the subject was observed leaving the church, our investigator followed his movements to a motel.

Additional vehicle research and a follow-up check strengthened the connection to that location.

We also recognized the limits of the evidence.

The investigation established that the subject was associated with the motel and a particular room, but it did not prove that the property was his permanent residence.

That distinction matters.

Our responsibility is to give clients accurate, documented findings without extending conclusions beyond what the evidence supports.
